Thanks to the amazing director Loki, I was fortunate enough to forgo the audition (which I heard was a nightmare-as people were waiting for hours to be seen) and liked me enough from a previous job to be booked directly. Thank you, thank you!

Everyone was so awesome to work with. Carrie on the left is the Hostess for Utah Homes Today and turns out Angie, her and I were at a mutual friend's (Gabe Shirey) wedding a few years ago!

Unicity International

I've been horrible about updating, but I shot a commercial last month for a skin care line for Unicity International. It will be airing in Southeast Asia the first week of February and can be seen on their website: www.unicityinternational.com

Utah is a small world in this business! Maryann, a model I've seen at other shoots was also there, as well as Tyler's cousin Jennifer who did my hair. Crazy that her out of all people would be working on the same set!

I wish I could do more of this--it really is a blast, definitely wearing physically, but so nice to meet all kinds of different people and getting paid to dance and do what I love.

The coolest thing was that they were using the 7D to shoot everything--I got some great tips and it was a great learning experience to see my camera in a professional setting.

This was my first shoot with a male model. Teilmann was a super nice guy...but young! Made me feel like an old lady. :) These were used for a site called iStockphoto.com where the photos are available for purchase. There are lots of opportunities in Utah for stock photography-and the $$$ is pretty sweet too. I have a another shoot tomorrow night (I'm going to play a young mother at a park/playground) so should be interesting...

I don't have the photos from this shoot back yet but will post them when I do-its a tad hard to see with the iStock logo on them.

Point of Vue-Saltair

Shaun with Point of Vue photography and Rebekah of Kolor Me Beautiful (makeup/hair) were fantastic to work with. She also models and is wonderful at giving direction and knowing which features work the best for each person. I had already committed to this shoot beforehand...and didn't know until last minute that they wanted bikini shots.

Ugh! I didn't feel ready to this quite yet and had turned down several other bikini shoots. There was only one other model and I couldn't necessarily say no and I did need them for my port. I am happy that I did it though (although I did have to run out and buy a bathing suit just for this shoot-thanks Target!) it wasn't so bad after all, and they made me feel extremely comfortable.

I have been really lucky to work with such professional people. I've yet to work with someone that I would not work with again. Jeremy and I met again today to discuss some future shoots and go through the below shoot again for some touchups and more photoshop work. He does amazing landscape/nature shots as well as some insane fairy themed work which hopefully I will be involved in next go around.

After a failed attempt to shoot at a reception hall in West Jordan (the MUA-or makeup artist had a some family members in critical condition after a car accident), and then the reception hall was booked for some time-Rachelle, Ty's mom saved the day by allowing us to shoot at their home. It is the perfect spot for elegant photos, and I'm so glad it ended up turning out that way. These are the only ones he has edited so far and still awaiting the rest.

Here is a short clip of our runway show that showed up on YouTube already. I'm sure there are better ones out there but, this is all I have for now. I'm the second model out with the doll-face and long brown hair.

My stylists, Matt and Ashlee were amazing--the top piece and balls were made out of styrofoam and I had only a couple hair extensions to cover the bare spots. Other than that, the whole top is my own hair. We also had a body painter for all the girls...my arms, neck and face were sprayed with black and orange paint.

We were positive that we won first place after winning for crowd participation. The club started screaming for JaggedEdge...but we didn't! We all felt a little ripped off-but hey, we had a ton of fun and everyone will be getting photos for their portfolios as well as $100 for cut and colors at the salon.

I love how every photographer and their style is completely different...you never know what you're going to get. I worked with Kristy Lee Photography in Salt Lake last weekend at a "secret" location that was pretty beautiful. She was really kicked back and even had a couple friends join to watch, and enjoy the view. She's working on a new photoshop technique this week to work on the rest of the shoot so I'm waiting on the rest...

I can't wait to get my camera!! I'm learning a ton of stuff and the camera I want is comparable, if not better than the ones used at all of my shoots. I'm learning that lighting is pretty much everything-any decent camera will be able to take stellar photographs. Ty also got me all the photoshop tutorials I need to brush up and get good at my skills so I will be ready when it comes time to take on that new hobby. I'm so excited...I had the best shoot on Sunday and Monday with a couple who is a photographer, and both model/MUA (makeup artist) and they offered to have me come take photos with them when I get my camera. The lights they have cost over 3 grand...wow-what an investment-so I'd love to take them up on their offer and learn some new stuff without having to fork over that much money or rent the equipment myself.

Yay for technology! Ty (my husband Ty) and I got my dad a flat-screen monitor for his computer for Father's Day. I say flat screen, because his was so old mind you...(he's guessing it's over 12-15 years old) that it was curved!!! So old that you can see each pixel without even pressing your nose right up to it, the colors are indistinguishable, and it actually gives everyone headaches because it's such a dinosaur. I can't believe I didn't think of it before!

Anyways, I'm mentioning this because my parents are FINALLY checking our blog-whereas before you couldn't even see a thing on that screen....and my family in Wisconsin are checking too. Mondlock Clan I miss and love you guys!

EVERYONE! I've given up on SYTYCD...I'm too old and too out of touch, style, & shape.

Yes, it's sad, yes I feel pathetic that I can't keep up, but the last thing I want to do is embarrass myself. Auditions are coming up in a couple weeks and I'm sooooo not ready for them. If by next year I haven't have a baby, done something productive with myself, gotten my dancing butt back into shape...(I may want to shoot myself if none of those have happened yet :) then a little hope is still left for next year...but until then I've had the below to keep me busy:

I was signed on to a talent agency here in Utah called The Crazy Agency last month and have been staying extremely busy booking shoots and going to auditions.

It has been so much fun...but a ton of work--and lots of learning in the process.

Opportunities seem to keep coming so I hope that this will pan out into something I can do long term. I'm really excited for a runway show I'm doing next week for a hair salon called Jagged Edge and also a shoot for Lunatic Fringe (another hair salon...just postponed until October though.) A few offers to travel for shoots have come about...nothing huge but enough to make me think that maybe I can have fun and make some decent money while I'm at it.

The website I've been making for my online portfolio is also super time consuming so blogging's been on the back burner lately, but hopefully I'll have something to show for it pretty soon. :)

I'll keep posting my pics for those interested until the website is up...

...my new love, obsession, hobby...whatever you want to call it, but I've found something amazing. Even if I never make a dime modeling again (I say that now...), I'd be happy. I don't think I've enjoyed myself more than this past weekend. I did a shoot on Friday for Board Bunnie's new catalogue and website, and a shoot on Sat for J T Photography which will be a great addition to my shabby outdated portfolio.

Its harder work than it looks. I'm sore from some of the poses (sad to admit...but I haven't seen the gym in awhile), covered in bug bites head to toe, have a huge spider bite on my right arm and came out a few pounds lighter from the unintentional skipping of lunch and dinner while at the shoot.

So much goes into making a decent photo and even more so to give it the title "Art." My head is still spinning from all the information I tried to take in about lighting and lenses. Wow. I have just barely skimmed the surface of the industry in Utah and am amazed at what talented photographers reside here. I already have a photog crush on a handful of people that I would give my right arm to work with. I am most interested at the moment by whimsical high fashion hair and makeup...it really is incredible the ideas that these people come up with! Crossing my fingers I'll be able to take part in some of those shoots one of these days.

This is the first photo I've seen and am getting anxious to get the rest back. Jim was great. So patient and willing to answer all the photography and lighting questions I had. It was a really wonderful learning experience.

A few things I learned from this shoot:

1.) Modeling and dancing don't always go hand in hand

2.) Poses that feel great may not look so great on camera

3.) The camera really does add pounds. 5 to each one of my arms...

4.) Natural is always better.

5.) Accept that sometimes the first shot is the best-don't beat a dead horse and keep trying for better

6.) Bring food and a MIRROR....I really can't believe I forgot that one.

& the biggie:

7.) Keep track of the time and don't forget to call the husband to let him know I wasn't kidnapped, raped, or both.

The modeling posts were taking over, and I definitely did not want them to take precedence over Tyler and our little family or portray that it's all I care about. I'm truly growing and learning from this and I know I still want to share what is going on in this fun realm of mine. Hopefully everyone wants to come along for the ride. I love modeling and I hope this continues until I'm old and grey! Enjoy the photographic journey!
